The mountainous peninsula of Aptica, a sleepy kingdom somewhat isolated form the events of the rest of the world, cradles a sleepy but prosperous nation. Lately a steady stream of refugees and displaced people have come into the country… peaceful people for the most part, but with situations like these tensions are bound to rise, conflict is inevitable. Though the worst of the incidents attributed to the influx of foreigners has so far ended in nothing more than public apology and resolution of damages, the tension in the land is palpable – many feel it’s just a matter of time before some refugee tries to take what he wants by force.
Aptica City (or “The City” to natives), has sent many Missives by herald, an open campaign of recruitment to the Aptica Guard, both to help police the land in this time of turmoil, and to strengthen the boarder in case the conflict to the north should spill southward. Yet even with all that’s being done, all is not well, and word passes that dread specters have been seen in the land, bringing silent torment to whole villages.
In the formerly quiet mountain town of Keral, the refugees are becoming a problem. The inns are nearly full to bursting, and some of those less well off even fill the streets. At the rate things are going, food is beginning to be in short supply, forcing more foragers to go further afield for game.
